Carol’s Mosaics
“I started making mosaic mirrors involving vintage china many years ago when I accidentally broke the handle off a Burliegh Pottery Calico Mug and couldn’t bare to throw it out, eventually breaking it down more and more to create a mosaic out of it. Since then besides china, I have included the use of porcelain flowers, ornaments, silver plate tea sets, and trinket boxes with hand made dioramas inside.”
The current obsession in 2025 is the mirror wave 3D mosaics, with the wave mirror features being cut by hand using a pistol grip glass cutter. “Each new seascape created allows for bolder and more expressive 3D waves, this interests me as I never know how its going to look until its finished!” (See image below for work in progress).
Speaking on what Carol enjoys working on the most, “The most rewarding mosaics to make are going to be the custom orders, this is because they can be entirely filled with your own sentimental bits and pieces, broken china, dress watches, costume or real jewellery, lockets containing meaningful photos, medals, and everything in between.” These custom pieces are destined to become something special and its an honour to make them.
Alan’s Sacred Geometry Work
“I have created a lot of my mosaics using inspiration taken from Sacred Geometry and also the Flower of Life, through trial and error I was able to create my own custom illuminated mosaics which include LED RGB strips alongside a remote control system. The stained glass is then mosaiced onto the custom made lightbox to keep everything visually appealing.”
When asked about Alan’s drive for what he does, “I get an enormous sense of well being from creating new and bespoke pieces, always giving me excitement when I turn the power on for the very first time and seeing the full 7 colour shift RGB system breathing life into my mosaic”
While browsing our mirrors, all mirrors and mosaic borders that involve symmetrical patterns are of Alan’s creation.
